What a car tracker costs in Ghana, and what you are paying for
A tracker price is really four prices: the device, fitting it, the data it sends, and the platform you watch it on. Here is how providers in Ghana package them, and what to ask before you pay.

What you are paying for
The device
The tracker itself, fitted out of sight in the vehicle. Some come with an immobiliser relay for remote engine cut-off.
Fitting
Wiring it to power, ground and the ignition, and testing it. Ask whether fitting outside the provider's home city costs extra.
The SIM and data
Every position the tracker sends travels over a mobile network, and somebody pays for that data every month.
The platform
The map, trip history, alerts and reports you look at. Without it, a tracker is a box sending data nobody reads.
Once and yearly, or monthly per vehicle
Most providers in Ghana charge in one of two ways. The first is a one-off price for the device, fitting and the first year, then a renewal each year for data and the platform.
AcesTrack publishes its prices this way. One-off price with the tracker, installation, SIM and first year: GHS 999 (Basic), GHS 1,299 (Pro), GHS 1,499 (Elite). Then GHS 240 a year (Basic, Pro) or GHS 420 a year (Elite). Its pricing page also says fitting is free in Greater Accra and that transport fees may apply elsewhere.
The second is a monthly price per vehicle that includes the tracker, its data and the platform. GoGoo Fleet charges this way. Many other providers do not publish a price at all and ask you to request a quote.
What GoGoo Fleet costs
In Ghana, Growth costs GHS 150 (US$12) per vehicle per month for an owner with their own vehicles, with a GoGoo tracker fitted. Fleet accounts are on Scale at GHS 250 (US$20) per tracked vehicle per month, and a vehicle without a tracker is not billed.
Starter, at GHS 27 (US$2.16) per vehicle per month, is the GoGoo Driver app alone, with no tracker.

- What do I pay in the first year, and what do I pay every year after it?
- Is fitting included, and does it cost more outside your home city?
- Is the SIM and data included, and for how long?
- Can I cut the engine remotely, and does that cost extra?
- If the tracker fails, who replaces it and who pays?
- If I leave, does the tracker stay in my vehicle and keep working?
